Personal Observations

I finally found this Mission the second time I tried to find it. The pueblo was quiet and I saw no one as I narrowed in on the church.

History

San Agustín de la Isleta Mission was founded in 1613 as a Spanish Mission by Catholic Franciscans. The church and friary were destroyed during the Pueblo Revolt in 1680 and we rebuilt under the direction of Father Juan de la Peña. The church was remodeled between 1910-1923 and again in 1959-1960. Further restoration was conducted from 2008 to 2013.
